Worm farming is cool!
My mom wanted me to start worm farming last year but I never got
a chance so I decided to take on the challenges of becoming a business
owner this year. I haven't started yet because we are planning on keeping our
worms in our cellar which snakes hibernate in every winter. And I don't know
why but I'm scared of snakes.
Anyways, I have found some very useful information I would like to share with you.
Here are 10 helpful facts:
- If you're planning on starting a worm farm use red worms.
- Never use colored newspaper ads.
- When you start the worms out use garden soil, never potting.
- Never feed the worms acidic, dairy, salty or meat foods.
- Every so often you should turn their soil
- Never pack their soil down to tightly.
- If little tiny oval shaped specks start turning up don't worry these are eggs that may contain up to 20 worms only a few should hatch though.
- Start your worm farm out with about 2 pounds of worms (if you have enough room).
- The great thing about red worms is that they limit their population to how large their enviorment is
- Burying your scraps helps reduce mold.
Hope these help!!!
I will try to post more tips every so often!
Long live worms.
